Located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Acworth is a city with an estimated population of 28,502. Acworth is located in predominantly Cobb County but sprawls to Bartow, Cherokee and Paulding counties too. Acworth is nicknamed The Lake City for it’s accessibility to Lake Acworth and Allatoona too.
Acworth has an interesting history. The city was burned to the ground in 1864 during the Civil War, with only a few houses and a church remaining. Cotton farming led to a recovery for the city. Concerned about flooding as a result of a dam built on the Etowah River, citizens petitioned for a second dam in the 1950s. The second dam resulted in Lake Acworth, which has since become a tourist attraction.
Cauble Park is home to some of the best summer fun for families. The 25-acre park features fishing points, the popular Acworth Beach, boat access to Lake Acworth, playgrounds and rental facilities. The park is also the site for many events, such as the Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival and the Fourth of July fireworks show.
